W kaburach oczywiście popularne turbodiesle, nabite i gotowe do strzału. Te trzy modele to trzej pionierzy klasy kompaktowych SUV-ów. Dziś rozpowszechnionej tak, że nie ma chwili, żeby gdzieś w polu widzenia nie błąkał się jakiś jej przedstawiciel. Na modę nie poradzisz. Nadwozie Outlandera zachowuje „terenowość” kształtów, CR-V przypomina bardziej miękkiego crossovera, natomiast Forester jest zupełnie podobny do Subaru NADWOZIA – CZYLI TRZY RÓŻNE STYLE Pachnący perfumami nowości Outlander zamienia rekini dziób poprzednika na bliżej nieokreślony wyraz twarzy, chociaż niewątpliwie nowoczesny. Jest większy od poprzedniego modelu, a dodatkowo nadwozie nabrało masywnego wyglądu – do tego stopnia, że duże, 18-calowe koła wyglądają na zbyt małe. Sylwetka Mitsubishi zachowuje jednak pewną „terenowość” kształtów – dość atrakcyjną, bo sugerującą uniwersalność auta (czy ta uniwersalność rzeczywiście jest, to zupełnie inna sprawa). Jest więcej miejsca we wnętrzu – to prezent głównie dla pasażerów z tyłu; jednak kabina niczym nie zaskakuje. Konsola ma wysoko umieszczone elementy obsługi, fotele są przynajmniej tak samo dobre jak te z poprzedniego modelu, a bagażnik stał się niemal 600-litrowym „akwarium na bagaż”. Bardziej miękka – co typowe dla crossovera – jest Honda. Nadwozie CR-V ma bardziej wyciągnięte linie, z przodu dominują trzy poprzeczne elementy osłony chłodnicy, linia szyb jest charakterystycznie, na ostro zakończona, a auto obłożono wokoło plastikowymi nakładkami – na zderzakach, progach i nadkolach. Kabina dostała niezły jakościowy zastrzyk i w zasadzie jedyny element, jaki przypomina poprzedni model to dźwignia zmiany biegów stercząca z konsoli, zamiast – jak u pozostałej dwójki – z tunelu środkowego. Na tablicy wskaźników solowy popis daje wielki prędkościomierz z malutkim ekranem wielofunkcyjnym w środku tarczy, a spłaszczona deska rozdzielcza poprawia wrażenie przestronności. Fotele są niezłej jakości, bagażnik tak wielki jak w Outlanderze, a całości dopełnia bardzo dobry, cichy i skuteczny układ klimatyzacji. Z kolei Forester to klasyka gatunku. Po (głównie kosmetycznych) zmianach sprzed dwóch lat, rysy Subaru nabrały bardziej wyrazistego charakteru. W wizualnym odbiorze auta ogromną rolę (na plus) gra wlot powietrza na pokrywie silnika – jak mało który detal na tej planecie sugeruje moc i osiągi. Robi to tym lepiej, że widać go też z miejsca kierowcy. Kabina Subaru jest najbardziej przeszklona z całej trójki, a kierowca Forestera ma najlepszą widoczność. Subaru ma natomiast najmniejszy bagażnik – 450 l kontra 590 l u Hondy i Mitsubishi. Jednak największą wadą Forestera jest – najzwięźlej rzecz ujmując – smutne wnętrze. Przeciętna stylizacja, przeciętne materiały, przeciętne wrażenie. Na poziomie jest za to ergonomia, z łatwą obsługą, dobrymi udogodnieniami i czytelnym zestawem zegarów. Cała trójka jest wprawiana w ruch przez silniki o tak zbliżonych parametrach, że na pierwszy rzut oka wydają się identyczne. Największa różnica polega na tym, że o ile jednostka Subaru pozostaje w przedziale do dwóch litrów pojemności skokowej, o tyle turbodiesle Hondy i Mitsubishi wykraczają poza niego, co będzie się odbijało na cenach ubezpieczenia. Natomiast pod względem osiągów nieco wyróżnia się silnik Mitsubishi, dysponujący najwyższym momentem obrotowym (380 Nm kontra 350 Nm Subaru i Hondy). Podczas jazdy jednostki Outlandera i CR-V sprawiają bardzo podobne wrażenie – są dobrze wyciszone, nie klekoczą po zimnym rozruchu, współpracują z przekładniami o dość długim przełożeniu szóstego biegu, są wyposażone w system start/stop, a na gaz reagują z takim samym opóźnieniem. Istotna różnica polega na tym, że turbodiesel Hondy ma po obu końcach skali obrotomierza mniejsze płuca – odczuwalnie później zaczyna „ciągnąć” i zauważalnie wcześniej zaczyna brakować mu pary. Z kolei jednostka Subaru – dobrze, powtórzmy, bo to wciąż ciekawostka przyrodnicza: pierwszy i na razie jedyny silnik wysokoprężny typu bokser – wciąż robi tak dobre wrażenie jak w chwili debiutu przed czterema laty. Szybko reaguje na gaz, szybko nabiera obrotów, bardzo liniowo rozwija osiągi i, podobnie jak DI-D Outlandera, ma szeroki zakres użytecznych obrotów. Mimo nieco gorszego czasu w sprincie do setki, najlepszą dynamiką wykazuje się Mitsubishi. Natomiast w wypadku znacznie bardziej życiowej elastyczności Outlander korzysta ze swojego wyższego momentu obrotowego, na dodatek rozwijanego w najszerszym zakresie obrotów – i jest górą.
